Ensuring process continuity during power disturbances.
In continuous industrial operations, even a momentary voltage dip, also called a voltage sag, can cause critical drives to trip, resulting in production interruptions, equipment downtime, material losses and costly restart procedures. Danfoss PowerNEU offers advanced DC-based voltage dip ride-through solutions for voltage sag mitigation and critical VFD protection, designed to maintain uninterrupted operation of motor-driven equipment during short-duration power disturbances.
Instead of correcting the supply at the plant incomer, as a dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) does, DC bus backup and DC link support protect the drives themselves, so they keep running while the grid recovers. It is a focused route to power quality improvement for the loads that matter most, and it can often be added as a common DC bus retrofit on compatible drive lineups.
The solution integrates a high-power energy storage system, using supercapacitors or batteries, with Danfoss power conversion technology and the existing drive system.
During normal operation, the energy storage system remains charged and ready. When a voltage dip occurs, a high-speed bidirectional DC/DC converter supplies stored energy directly to the common DC bus, maintaining the voltage required for the connected drives to continue operating.
Once the grid voltage recovers, the system automatically returns to normal operation and recharges the energy storage bank.
Particularly relevant where continuous operation and process stability are critical.
Rolling mills, galvanizing lines, processing lines and other continuous production equipment.
Critical motor-driven equipment and processing systems.
Cranes, conveyors and automated handling systems.
Continuous production lines and high-speed drive applications.
Processes sensitive to short-duration power disturbances.
Applications where momentary voltage fluctuations can lead to significant operational losses.
Combining Danfoss power electronics technology with Danfoss PowerNEU's application engineering and system integration capabilities, our solutions are configured around the specific power, ride-through duration and operating requirements of each installation. The objective is simple: prevent a momentary power disturbance from becoming a costly production interruption.

Part of Power Quality & Process Continuity
Grid-tied power conversion for plants adding battery storage, renewable generation or moving toward electrified, DC-based systems.
As plants add battery storage, renewable generation or move toward DC-based architectures, they need power electronics that can convert and manage that energy reliably, not just drives that run motors. Danfoss does not manufacture the storage itself; DPN builds on Danfoss's power conversion platforms to integrate that capability into a plant's existing electrical architecture, whatever storage or generation the plant chooses.
Technologies: iC7-Hybrid, VACON® NXP Grid Converter, VACON® NXP DC/DC Converter and VACON® NXP DCGuard, see the full range in the Drives store.
Recovering process heat from sinter cooling, laminar flow cooling, annealing and galvanizing lines, and plant utilities into usable plant energy, a core lever in DPN's decarbonization approach.
Sintering, rolling, annealing and galvanizing lines all reject significant process heat, and the fans, pumps and compressors that move cooling media are often left running well beyond what the process actually needs. DPN turns that rejected heat and oversized auxiliary load into usable plant energy and lower electricity consumption, sized to each site's actual profile.
Technologies: Danfoss plate and spiral heat exchangers, VLT and VACON AC drive families, Danfoss Turbocor and BOCK compressors.
